Technical SEO for React sites: what Google actually sees
A site built only in the browser can look almost empty to a search engine. Server rendering, correct metadata and structured data are the foundation of visibility.
The initial HTML matters
If the main content only appears after JavaScript runs, its visibility depends on the search engine's rendering. Server rendering or pre-rendering puts the content in the HTML from the start.
Per-page metadata, from data
Title, description, canonical and sharing image should be unique per page and generated from that page's data, not written by hand and repeated.
- One H1 per page.
- A canonical URL to avoid duplicate content.
- hreflang for language versions.
Structured data
JSON-LD helps search engines understand the page type and entities: organisation, service, article and breadcrumb. It must match the visible content exactly.
Sitemap and redirects
A sitemap with each page's real last-modified date, and a 301 redirect whenever a URL changes, keep pages from losing the authority they earned.
Speed and experience
Measure LCP, INP and CLS. Less JavaScript, optimised images and few fonts usually have the biggest effect.
